Generator Tanks
Generators rely on fuel combustion to create electricity, and thus every generator designed for prolonged use will usually be accompanied by a generator tank. Here you can find a wide choice of high quality, heavy duty fuel tanks for the purposes of supplying fuel to keep a generator running; all designed to provide reliable durability when moving to and from sites, and for use in a range of situations.
Fuel Storage Tanks For Generators
Generators exist for the purpose of supplying electricity during either power outages or to locations where electricity might not be readily available such as construction sites, outdoor events, agricultural enterprises and many many other rural locations. If a large commercial or construction project is to be carried out at a location without ready access to power, then a generator is all but essential.
Any generator needs a supply of fuel to run; it’s important that fuel can be stored in sufficient enough quantities so as not to cause disruption to operations, that it can be transported safely along with the generator, and that it is able to be stored securely with as little risk of spillage or leaking as possible.
As part of our comprehensive range of fuel storage tanks, our fuel tanks for generators are engineered to the exacting standards; providing safe, secure and reliable solutions for on-site fuel storage and transportation. Most are manufactured from high quality steel to provide enhanced durability and security, while bunded construction offers an additional safeguard against leaks or spills.
We also supply generator stores to securely house a wide range of generators and associated equipment. Our range includes both standard stores and acoustic generator stores, which are designed to dampen the sound in order to meet noise regulations. Generator stores also include integrated bulk fuel storage tanks, which can be permanently piped to the generator, along with mounting rails on which the generator can be placed.
What Kind of Generator Tank Do I Need?
The kind of generator tank that you need naturally depends on the generator you wish to keep supplied with fuel. The larger and greater the power output of a generator, the more fuel is necessary to keep it running for extended periods of time. It also depends on where the tank is to be installed and the size of the location or property it is to serve.
With decades of experience in the industry, and an in-house design team able to provide bespoke solutions when required, at Northern Tank Store we are happy to advise you on the right choice of fuel storage solution to meet your needs.
All our generator fuel tanks are bunded, in line with legal requirements, and are manufactured to meet or exceed all relevant standards.
We also offer tow bowsers and road legal tanks to transport fuel to sites. A convenient solution, these are fully compliant for use on roads and certified to UN 1202 as well as other applicable standards. Similarly, you can also find UN approved tanks that can be used for road haulage where transport of fuel is necessary.
Generator Tank Size & Capacity
Generator fuel tanks are available in a range of sizes to suit all requirements, from smaller 110 litre wheelie bin type tanks, to large bunded fuel storage tanks in capacities in excess of 150,000 litres.
At these larger volumes, safety and security are of the utmost concern. A tank containing this much fuel needs to be secure from damage and theft as well as be properly installed. For this reason, all of our large generator tanks are steel models. While heavier and somewhat more difficult to install, steel tanks offer the best security against damage, theft, and weather-related hazards.
To find what capacity is right for you, you will need to determine how much fuel you plan to store. This will often rely, in turn, on the type of generators you have and how many generators you will need on-site.. To decide on a generator tank, there are three parameters to consider:
Lead Time for Supply
This is the time required for fuel to be purchased and transported by the vendor to the generator site.
Lead Time Stock
This is the fuel required to run the generator constantly for the lead-time. This will also help you schedule your fuel deliveries.
Emergency Stock
This is how much fuel is required to cover for delays in supplies or periods of excessive fuel consumption.
At Northern Tank Stores, we have decades of experience, are in control of our own manufacturing and supply line, and can advise on precisely the type of tank you need by working through our own in-house design team.
Find The Best Fuel Storage Solution For Your Needs
There are a number of regulations that fuel tanks most adhere to in order to ensure safety for users, as well as protection for the environment in the event of a leak or spill. For commercial and business use, storing over 200 litres of fuel means it is necessary to comply with the Control of Pollution (Oil Storage) regulations 2001. This includes the requirement for tanks to be 110% bunded, which means the fuel is stored in an inner tank, surrounded by an outer shell. The space between the layers, the bund, is able to collect fuel in the event of a spill.
At Northern Tank Store we ensure all safety and legal requirements are met with all the products we offer, working with leading brands as well as our own manufacturing arm to supply high quality and reliable fuel storage solutions.
Get in touch with our expert team who will be happy to discuss your requirements and advise on the most suitable products to ensure you are fully compliant with all regulations, as well as finding the best solution for your specific needs.
